Lourdes Velasco Domínguez, 32 años, es de nacionalidad mexicana, licenciada en Sociología por la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) y tiene una maestría, en estudios de género, por el Colegio de México. Actualmente se encuentra cursando un Doctorado en ciencias sociales en FLACSO México; específicamente en ciencia política con especialización en Justicia Penal y Derechos Humanos.
El objetivo de su investigación actual es explicar y comprender el comportamiento diverso que han mostrado las oficinas de procuración de justicia, en México. Su tesis se basa en el supuesto de que cuando los agentes de la investigación criminal tengan actitudes que estén más en línea con los principios del liberalismo político y la protección de los derechos humanos, habrá mayores niveles de judicialización de los casos de homicidio y feminicidio.
María de Lourdes se dedica a la investigación y prevención de la violencia feminicida en México, y al desarrollo y avance de herramientas o políticas dentro de la oficina del Fiscal General (OFG) de México.
Desde su licenciatura, Maria ha centrado su trabajo en las desigualdades de género, especialmente con respecto a las mujeres indígenas. Como parte de este enfoque, es autora de trabajos y ha dado conferencias sobre violencia feminicida y, posteriormente, fue invitada a actuar como investigadora del gobierno en este asunto. Como funcionaria pública, su enfoque y especialidad es investigar los procesos actuales dentro del OFG, con respecto a los casos de feminicidio y la desaparición de mujeres; y al mismo tiempo, profundizar la comprensión del fenómeno de la violencia extrema contra las mujeres.
María de Lourdes Velasco Domínguez is a 32 year old Mexican national, with an undergraduate degree in Sociology from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico (UNAM), as well as a Masters, in gender studies, from the Colegio de Mexico. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Social Sciences with a specialty in political science, focused on Criminal Justice and Human Rights at FLACSO Mexico.
The objective of her present research is to explain and understand the diverse behavior shown by the justice officials in Mexico. The research hypothesis is based on the assumption that when justice investigation agents have attitudes that are more in line with the principles of political liberalism and protection of human rights, there will be higher levels of judicialization of homicide and femicide cases.
María de Lourdes is dedicated to the investigation and prevention of femicide violence in Mexico, and the development and advancement of tools or policies within the office of the Attorney General of Mexico (AGO).
Since her undergraduate degree, Maria has focused her work on gender inequalities, specially with respect to indigenous women. As part of this focus, she has authored work and lectured on femicide violence and subsequently invited to act as a government researcher on this matter. As a public servant, her focus and specialty is on investigating the current processes within the AGO, with respect to femicide cases and the disappearance of women; and at the same time, deepen the understanding of the phenomenon of extreme violence against women.
